James described Hartlepool Sixth Form as transitional, empowering and enriching.
While studying A-Levels, James was involved in extra-curricular activities in the Performing Arts department, conducting the band for shows and playing the piano for other students.
He said: “I chose Hartlepool Sixth Form because I knew it would give me more independence than my previous school environment. I was also impressed by the positive academic reputation of the sixth form.
The aspect I liked best about the sixth formwas the support I was given in terms of pursuing extra-curricular activities. Studying at Hartlepool gave me the opportunity to lead and take responsibility for things I consider important such as collaborations with schools and external professionals.
The best thing about the course was the great teaching staff. The new facilities for the arts are state-of-the-art and of industry standard.
The musicals held by the performing arts department were consistently excellent. These performances were seen by fellow students and industry professionals alike.”
Following his time at the College, James studied a degree in vocal performance within the Music department at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where he continues to study for a PHD and work as a conductor.
