Hartlepool Sixth Form students make the grade on Results Day

Students at Hartlepool Sixth Form are celebrating after discovering that they have gained the grades to achieve their future ambitions.

The sixth form’s A-Level, T Level and vocational students received their results today (Thursday 17 August) with many accepting offers from some of the country’s leading universities, progressing to higher level apprenticeships, or starting a new career.

The sixth form achieved an overall high pass rate for A-Levels again, with many subjects receiving 100% pass rate with English Literature students performing extremely well.

Students taking vocational and technical qualifications continued the high performance from previous years, with a 93% achievement rate.

Those studying T Levels – the first cohort at Hartlepool Sixth Form College to complete the two-year qualifications courses – also impressed with 95% of students achieving their qualification and all with high grades.

Proud A-Level student Isaac Organ gained an A* in Maths and Chemistry and an A in Further Maths and Physics.

The 18-year-old, who is heading to Durham University to study Physics, said: “I was relieved and happy when I saw the results I had achieved. I’m excited to be going to university for something that I enjoy so much and am very grateful that everything has worked out well.”

Another delighted A-level student, Charlotte Hamilton, achieved an A*, A and B in Sociology, Criminology and English Language.

She is heading to Liverpool University to study Criminology and Sociology.

Charlotte said: “I am really happy and relieved.”

Amy Hilder, who is going to study Mental Health Nursing at Sunderland University, gained an Overall Merit in a T Level in Health (Adult Nursing).

She said: “When I opened my results, all the nerves and anxiety went away after what has been a difficult two years in college. But knowing all the hard work has paid off has made me feel relieved and I’m excited to start university next month.”

Fellow T Level Health student, Abbie-Jo Harman will be studying Paramedic Practice at Teesside University after achieving an overall Distinction.

Abbie-Jo said: “I was so surprised and happy when I opened my results. I only needed a Merit to get into University, but instead I achieved an Distinction, which was higher than I needed. I’m obviously very happy and will be starting at Teesside University in September!”

Results were available to collect from the sixth form from 8am with those unable to pick up their results in person receiving an email later in the morning.

The college’s Matrix Standard accredited Careers team also hosted drop-in support and one-to-one appointments offering advice and guidance on grades, clearing and course options.

Campus Principal, Jane Reed, said: “We have seen some excellent results with many individual exceptional achievements across a range of our A Levels, in particular our first group of T level students in Health who have made significant progress and have achieved outstanding results.”

Hartlepool Sixth Form is accepting applications now from 2023 school leavers for its wide range of A-Level subjects, T Level qualifications and vocational courses including Animal Science, Games, Animation & VFX, Health & Social Care, and Engineering.
