The Netball Academy exceeded all expectations this season as they narrowly missed out on the AoC Yorkshire and Humberside Premiership title, qualified for the AoC National Championships and reached the last 16 of the AOC Cup.
The players’ hard work and determination saw them as a team and athletes as they competed against some of the country’s top sides and adapted to facing different playing styles.
Libby Skidmore and Maddie Ryder, who were in named in the AoC national squad last year, made their debuts for Oaksway Netball Team in the national Premier League 2. Libby’s experiences saw her become a leader within the Hartlepool Sixth Form side and assist coach Danielle Smith throughout the season.
New recruit Tamzin also made her Premiership 1 debut with Grangetown Netball Club following a fantastic first season.
Danielle Smith, Head of Netball, said: “This was a fantastic year for us. We really wanted to push and develop the players this year so we entered the North East, Yorkshire and Humber League which included some excellent teams.
“To finish second is a great achievement and the girls should be really proud.”
